Hi Everyone, I’m Harley, and this is the story of how my family found me:
A Puppy in Need: Watching Harley’s First Home
On a cool March morning, I took my pit named Blink outside for our normal morning routine. I would drink my coffee and throw his ball in the backyard until he was ready for his breakfast. This particular morning while I was throwing the ball, I heard a small whining sound. Blink must’ve heard it too because he did that precious head tilt that dogs do when they hear an interesting noise. We stopped our game and looked around the yard. Hearing nothing, we returned to our game. The second the ball left my hand, the whining started again. I decided that it was time to really investigate and started up the porch stairs so I could put Blink away and start to search. At the top of my porch steps I heard a small bark. I turned and noticed that under my neighbors porch, was a small brown puppy.
Discovering a Tiny Whine: Harley’s Unexpected Introduction

The underside of my neighbors porch had been wrapped in chicken wire and they were using it
for storage. They had building materials, lawn mowers, and dirt bikes under their porch. And now, a small puppy was sitting in the storage space watching me. I immediately felt for the puppy and began to watch closely. Day after day I would watch the puppy and talk to it from my yard. I never once saw someone go out and feed, water, or exercise the puppy. One day, I saw my neighbors outside and asked about the puppy. The father said it was his son’s dog
and his son didn’t have time for the dog and it was a bad dog. He said it jumped and whined and chewed on his dirt bikes. I let him know that I was interested in the puppy. The dad said they weren’t giving the puppy away and went back inside. A few days later we were under a
tornado watch. I was so worried about the little puppy as I knew they wouldn’t be bringing the puppy inside. I mustered up the courage and decided to go ask my neighbors if I could at least bring the puppy in for the storms. When I opened my door, the son was surprisingly standing in my front yard with the puppy in a crate. He instantly told me that she was a bad dog and too hyper and he was going to leave her in our yard.
Harley’s New Life: From Tornado Watch to Family Love
I immediately brought the little puppy in and got her all cleaned up. Today, Harley is almost a year old and thriving! We
believe she is a mix of a lab and pitbull. Blink has never had a dog friend and now I can’t
imagine his life without her. They are the best of friends and do everything together. Now
she goes on car rides weekly for a pup cup and is sleeping under the blankets rather than
outside.
